Hello class (of Fall 2011),

Things have been crazy these first few weeks, but I think I'm finally getting on track (and getting everything updated--if I've missed anything, let me know!).  A few items to remember:

First of all, there is NO CLASS tomorrow (Tuesday 12 Sept) because I will be conferencing with each of you.  The schedule for conferences is posted below.

Second, I AM requiring a blog post from you by midnight tomorrow (Tues.)--this is a free post; you can write it about anything.  In conjunction with that, remember to stay on top of commenting on others' blogs--5 (thats FIVE) comments per week! :-D

Also, remember that you have ANOTHER draft of your OpEd due this Friday at 4PM (emailed to me, as usual).

Regarding conferences:  ALL conferences are in (or near) my office:  3004 JKB.  I'll either be in that room or on a desk nearby; just be in that area and I'll flag you down.  And please keep to your assigned time.  If you are late, I'll likely not be able to meet with you and we'll have to reschedule.  For those who aren't on the conference list:  you may take any of the available times (just let me know in the comments), or email me (Brandon is the only one to have done that so far).

Also, Punctuation 5 will be due on Friday, so be sure to bring the to class (Claire and Sydney--I gave Ashlyn new copies of the exercise, so be sure to get them from her and complete them before Friday).

IP Group Topic Conferences and Blog Prompt

Here is the schedule for Group Topic Conferences.  Remember, we will NOT be having class on Tuesday (instead I will be meeting with those who signed up for those slots).  Also note that while the Tuesday conferences are IN OUR REGULAR CLASSROOM, the Wednesday conferences are IN (OR NEAR) MY OFFICE.

Also, remember your blog post due TOMORROW at NOON.  This post should simply be a tentative thesis for your Issues Paper (you may use the thesis generator we used in class on Thursday--you can find that under Course Materials on Blackboard).  I just want to get a gist of where each of you are going in your research.

OpEd Conference Times

Here are the scheduled conferences I have so far.  If you haven't signed up for one of these times (I know a few of you weren't here on Friday), respond to this post with the time you would like--you'll notice there are a number of spots open; you can sign up for any of those.  And, if none of these times work for you, just email me and we can figure something out!

But, before I give you the schedule, a few things regarding your OpEd conferences (and conferences in general):  1) don't be intimidated (not that you would be, but in the off chance you are...)--its just a discussion on how to make your paper better.  2) come witha  few questions and/or concerns that you have about your paper that we can discuss--I'll read your paper before hand and will probably have some comments, but I want to know what you are thinking and what your concerns are as well.
